An interesting bilingual type
Lot 4776
INDIA, Islamic Sultanates. Amirs of Multan. Munabbih, circa AH 299-300 / AD 912-913. Damma (Silver, 9 mm, 0.47 g). SRI ADIVARAHA ('Lord Adivaraha' in Sharda). Rev. 'Lillah / Mu' ('For Allah / Muhammad' in Kufic). Fishman & Todd, M74. Very fine.

This interesting type carries bilingual legends in order to be accepted by the local Hindu population. It also marks a fascinating attempt by the new Arab rulers to invoke Hindu gods, in this case Adivaraha, in order to legitimize their rule
